Description

  • 69,020 books. One 128 GB flash drive.
  • Offline. Your own copy.  The books and software are preloaded on, and run from, the drive itself. This means they are your own local copies of all those books.
  • So many classics. All the public domain Project Gutenberg books, as of June 2024.

Over 69,020 books, in the palm of your hand; see STYLE UPDATE NOTE below.
  • High-quality bespoke software.  Full-featured reader; bookmarks; title/author search; personal bookshelf; category search.
  • Research tools. Text search; highlighting; note-taking; export highlighted text; export notes; and (if online) select text to look up translation, dictionary, and encyclopedias, and to make AI queries.
  • Export tools. Export EPUB (new in version 1.1) without an internet connection; lets you read the books on mobile. Also export PDF and ZIP (ZWI) format, which includes HTML and TXT.
  • STYLE UPDATE NOTE: As of January 1, 2025, the black style you see above is out of stock. We are now substituting a solid equivalent drive, in yellow, with hand-made stickers (not worse in quality), which you can see below.
  • An ideal Christmas present! Perfect for scholars, homeschoolers, book-lovers, and preppers.

“That such a thing is possible — a library worthy of a great university on a stick — is astonishing. That any reader who knows about it would fail to get one is more astonishing. We should be sending a blizzard of these into space and seeding our galaxy with them.” –Walter Kirn, author of Blood Will Out

NOTE: the $50 model does not have the flashing logo.

I purchased this compilation specifically because it is a laborious process to download one or more books from the Project Gutenberg website. Having the entire repository up to the middle of 2024 means I can delete duplicate volumes spread across multiple locations on hard drives I use.

    1. There is a detailed instruction sheet accompanying the USB stick one receives. One thing I think that should be added to it – Do yourself a favour – make one copy of the original so you can recover the files in the event of an unfortunate event such as corruption of a file due to a power outage or, in my case, a Windows update. It happens.

    2. The management/access software provided by Larry Sanger is well thought out. It is quite intuitive and once I have used it more, I may come back and add suggestions for future enhancements. However, it makes my task of finding the reference works I am seeking much simpler.

    3. Imagine having a comprehensive library covering many genres readily at hand. I recommend this nearly complete collection (since it was compiled, the Project Gutenberg team have continued to add more volumes) and I sincerely hope to see future releases with the added content.
